Shelter

The shelter is intended for anyone who has experienced domestic violence or threat of violence. Violence is not always physical – the threat of violence is enough reason to seek shelter. The shelter is available to people of all ages and genders.

We offer round-the-clock secure housing and psychosocial support to our customers. We can also help you with practical arrangements. Staying at the shelter is free of charge. You can seek shelter directly by contacting us, regardless of where you live. We recommend calling us before coming to the shelter. However, in urgent cases, you can come straight to the shelter and ring the doorbell.

Recognise domestic violence and seek help in time

The purpose of the shelter is to offer safety, help, support and guidance to people who have experienced domestic violence or threat of violence. Our work with customers aims to stop the violence or its threat, help with building a safe life, and strengthen the resources and coping of our customers.

Shelter services are available in Finnish, Swedish and English. We also use interpreter services with our customers, when necessary.

Shelter premises

At the shelter, you get a private room in a peaceful, safe and homelike environment. Professional staff is always present. While staying at the shelter, you and your family can continue to go to work, school and the daycare centre as usual, if the situation allows.

The shelter premises are partially accessible. Customer facilities are on two floors. There is a shared lift outside the locked shelter facilities, but using the lift requires assistance from the staff. The bathroom and toilet facilities are accessible.
