Tämän sivun sisältö
Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria causes pneumonia and other serious inflammations. These inflammations often demand hospital treatment. As people grow older the risk of falling sick from the Streptococcus pneumoniae bacteria increases. Also, other underlying medical conditions add to the risk of falling sick.
The Pneumococcal vaccine that we use is called Prevenar. It is given only once. This means that you do not need a booster dose if you have gotten the vaccine earlier.
We give the vaccine for free to people
- who have gotten a stem cell transplantation
- under 75 years, who have a serious form of nephropathy
- under 75 years, who have Severe Combined Immunodeficiency (SCID)
- aged 65–84 who have asthma or Chronic obstructive lung disease (COPD).
You can be vaccinated with the Pneumococcal vaccine at the same time as you get the influenza and Covid-19 vaccines.
JoIf you do not belong to the groups of people mentioned above, you can ask to get the vaccine from
- Occupational Health Care
