County elections 2025
County elections will be held on Sunday 13 April 2025. 59 county councillors and deputy councillors are elected to the county council of the Wellbeing Services County of East Uusimaa. By voting in county elections, you influence who decides on important services in your everyday life.
The county council exercises the supreme decision-making power of the wellbeing services county; the county council decides how the welfare area organises social and health services and rescue services.
In county elections, the constituency is the wellbeing services county, and candidates are nominated throughout the wellbeing services county. The municipalities belonging to the Wellbeing Services County of East Uusimaa are Askola, Lapinjärvi, Loviisa, Myrskylä, Porvoo, Pukkila and Sipoo.
Municipal elections are held on the same day as county elections. Election ballots differ by colour: voting in county elections is done by using the purple ballot.
The result of the vote in the county elections will be confirmed and published on 16 April 2025.
Activities of the County Council
The county council is elected for four years. The new county council will start its term of office on 1 June 2025 and its term of office will expire on 31 May 2029.
The county council is responsible for the operations and economy of the wellbeing services county. County councillors decide on, among other things, the strategy of the wellbeing services county, the administrative rule of the wellbeing services county and the budget of the wellbeing services county. County councillors also decide on the service network of the wellbeing services county, i.e. where the services of the wellbeing services county are located.
The county council sets up the county executive and other institutions of the wellbeing services county. The county council elects the Chief Executive of the Wellbeing Services County when the selection is topical.
The decisions of the county councillors must be based on the premise that the residents of the area are treated equally. Services must be organised in such a way as to support the health, well-being, and safety of all residents, regardless of their place of residence. Decisions are not made on a municipal basis but take into account the entire wellbeing services county and the needs of all residents.
You can vote in County elections in the Eastern Uusimaa region if you are 18 years of age on election day 13.4.2025 and your municipality of residence is in the Eastern Uusimaa region. The municipalities belonging to the Wellbeing Services County of East Uusimaa are Askola, Lapinjärvi, Loviisa, Myrskylä, Porvoo, Pukkila and Sipoo.
Citizens of Finland, other EU member states and Iceland and Norway, as well as other foreigners who have lived in Finland continuously for at least two years, are entitled to vote.

The election day polling stations (siirryt toiseen palveluun) can be found from 18 March 2025 at the Digital and Population Data Services Agency’s polling station service. On the actual election day, you are only eligible to vote at your assigned polling station. Your assigned polling station will be announced by mail or electronically in the voting rights notice you received in Suomi.fi.

Candidates in county elections may be nominated by parties in the party register, by constituency associations established by eligible voters, and by joint lists of constituency associations.

The election agent of a party, joint list or constituency association must submit candidate applications, as well as notifications of party electoral alliances and joint lists of electoral associations to the County Election Commission of the Wellbeing Services County of East Uusimaa, no later than 4 March 2025 before 4 p.m.

The main task of the County Election Board is to confirm the nomination of county elections and to confirm the election result of county elections.
The nomination is confirmed, and the candidate numbers of the candidates are published on 13 March 2025.
The calculation of advance votes in county elections and the confirmation of votes on election day are conducted by the central election board of each municipality. The County Election Board combines the results of municipalities into the election result of the entire wellbeing services county.
